Depending on the type of venue that you're enquiring about, or the nature of the event that you're planning, your venue may charge a room hire fee.
Why? Because some venues will allow you to BYO food and drinks, furniture, decorations and entertainment.
Meeting rooms and boardrooms will very often charge based on an hourly, half day or full day fee for hire of the selected space. In this case, the room hire fee is likely to include writing implements and AV equipment.
Sometimes, light refreshments will also be included in this price, but additional catering will be charged at a separate rate.
Warehouse venues and Galleries
Warehouse venues and gallery spaces are the most common venue types to charge room hire fees for social functions. This is because many of these venues can be hired as true blank-canvases, allowing you to bring everything from food to furniture.
The room hire fee for these venue types will usually include set up and staffing for your BYO catering, but it's important to always check exactly what is included in the venue hire fee.
Our top tip? Know your event type, and make sure you read about pricing conditions when enquiring with a venue.
